Hey everyone,
I hope you’ve had a great week.
This week has rushed by without me seeming to have done anything, but this is one of the nice things about this newsletter. It reminds me of the work I have done.
5-ish AWESOME things this week
I tried out a new format for shorts on my Pryn Music YouTube channel. The idea is a rubbish gameshow where you have to guess which track (out of two) has had the most streams. It’s just another way to get exposure to the music. Whether it does well, is sustainable, or I even enjoy doing it repeatedly, only time will tell. I’ve only done two videos and am still refining the edit, but I am having fun.
I share how I approach time management these days (now my kids are in school). It has always been an ever-evolving thing, but this new way is a breath of fresh air.
This week’s playlist has gone dark, well, sad AND dark. I got some help from the AI that works in my building (ChatGPT) to get a cool title - Among the Pines, I Lost You - all about feelings of regret, betrayal and loss. A cheery one this week 😂
My friend Tim (the cellist) came round this week to record the follow-up to my most successful album, The Road Not Taken by Eduardo Firenze. It was a great session, we ended up getting enough material for another THREE albums. Tim is also doing well with his electronica project, Fields of Few (he seems to be smashing it on Bandcamp…must pick his brains about that!)
I’m testing out new layouts for my artist pages on my Pryn Music website. Here is the page for Dryad’s Grove - what do you think? Am I missing something?
Sharing is Caring
I realised I had been sent quite a few pieces of music from you guys (#teampryn) and wanted to share more. (I like to share work and stuff from my readers/viewers as I am putting into practice what I am teaching my kids…sharing is caring 🤗)
Tokyo Tape Collective - Philip Pendleton created a new channel of dusty lofi beats. Reminds me of Air’s first album, Moon Safari.
(If you want your music/creation to be shared, drop it in the comments ❤️)
Fun Fact
Uni was my favourite character in the 80s cartoon, Dungeons and Dragons. It wasn’t until I was much older that I realised the cartoon was based on the RPG game. (I didn’t even know the RPG existed!)
Quick Question 🙋🏻♂️
Is this shorter format better than last week’s longer format?
